In 1906, it was decided to place Mission Bell Guideposts along the great El Camino Real (the “Kings Highway”) and the first bell was placed in LA,. The bells were inscribed, “1769 - 1906,” marking the year of the 1st Mission and the year of the 1st Bell.
Todays, “Where’s It From Wednesday”…the Sutro’s of SF, including the Sutro Baths Ruins, Sutro Heights Park and Sutro Tower. All these fascinating places are named after Adolph Sutro.
